In the beginning
of Southern Charm Teacakes...
it was nearing Christmas of 2022 when I found myself in a financial fickle where I would potentially have to make a choice; do I pay bills? or do I buy Christmas gifts for my grandchildren? I then called out to The Lord, "What can I do to make some money?" I then heard a small still voice say to me, "Bake Teacakes."
"
"Bake teacakes?!?! I exclaimed!! "Who even still eats teacakes?!?" I asked God. And he said... nothing, not one single thing. I then had to make a choice. Will I believe what Thought I heard God tell me or will I lean to my own understanding? Well, I had done enough of leaning to my own understanding, I had asked God, and I believed that he had answered.
I then began baking teacakes but unlike the ones I baked as a teenager, these tasted great but the look was a no go for me, for some reason my teacakes kept falling flat. After losing lots of butter, sugar and eggs thru trial and error I went back to God. I raised my right hand to the sky and said, "Lord, I have messed enough butter, sugar, and eggs. If you will, give me the recipe of the teacakes that you would like your people to have." God responded immediately by instructing me to remove an ingredient, provided me the exact measurements for another ingredient and then told me to turn my oven up to 380 degrees. The voice was not audible, it was just a knowing, like a thought to make 3 changes. And since I had nothing to lose being that my teacakes were not up to par; I took the advice of the voice that I heard.

I then pulled out a bowl, allowed my butter to soften, then did exactly what god said to do. once my teacakes were in the oven I sat on a low stool right in front of the oven with great anticipation wanting to know if these teacakes would rise after following God's instructions. And Guess what? Not only did they rise, they looked absolutely perfect! So much so, the teacakes pictured on our SCT [Southern Charm Teacakes} logo are the first batch of teacakes that I baked after following God's instructions.

We have evolved quite a bit since then. not only do we bake classic Vanilla teacakes in the shape of a teacup, we also offer "twisted flavors" of teacakes including lemon, sweet potato, strawberry, Key lime, birthday cake, red velvet, s'more and more. Our teacakes are firm on the outside with a pillowy center that leaves you contemplating of whether to chew or just allow them to melt in your mouth. the choice is yours!
because we are all about charm, each of our teacakes have taken on their own personality. For instance we adorn our classic vanilla teacakes with edible pearls, our strawberry teacakes are pink, our lemon teacakes are cut in the shape of flowers & are adorned with a small wedge of lemon and our s'more offer a roasted marshmallow on top. And though Each teacake takes on its own personality, one thing they all have in common is that you will find a heart either stamped on and/or the full teacake will be in the shape of a heart. The heart shows that we bake with love & it provides a subtle reminder for us to be reminded of God's love for us as well as the love that we should have for one another.
